Executive Producers Benztown + McVay Media Podcast Networks, Fred Bronson (pictured above, L) and distributor and sales rep YEA Networks announce the launch today of Idol Memories, a new podcast for American Idol fans and entertainment enthusiasts. Idol Memories is a series of conversations and memories about America’s iconic eight-time Emmy-winning performance show, American Idol. The podcast is hosted by American Idol Executive Producer Nigel Lythgoe (pictured above, R), who has been a pioneer in reality television and a driving force in the world of performing arts. To listen to the Idol Memories podcast with Lythgoe’s first guest Justin Guarini, Season 1 Runner-Up, visit: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/idol-memories/id1502301315.

Following 17 successful seasons of American Idol, Lythgoe and former American Idol contestants, producers and production team members recount their favorite memories on and off-camera in Idol Memories. He also goes one-on-one with the renowned and notorious judges of the show and America’s favorite former American Idol winners, as they revisit some of the show’s most memorable performances and more than a few of their favorite Idol memories.

Lythgoe said: “I’m thrilled to be working with Fred Bronson and Benztown in reminiscing about some of the wonderful moments I experienced on American Idol. In reminding you of what happened in front of the cameras, it has brought back to me a lot of the moments you didn’t see that occurred behind the cameras. I can’t wait to tell you these stories – and I’m being helped in this by the judges, the contestants and fellow members of the production team.”

Dave “Chachi” Denes, President, Benztown, said: “We are thrilled to work with Nigel Lythgoe, an Icon in the music and entertainment business who started a reality television revolution. I’ve already learned a great deal from his stories and memories, and Idol Memories listeners will, too.”

Mike McVay, President and CEO, McVay Media, said: “Nigel has had a greater impact on the acceleration of many artists’ careers in modern day media than any social media platform could have ever had.“

Idol Memories is available on all major podcast platforms, including Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Play, Stitcher and more. In this week’s episode of Idol Memories, Lythgoe covers:

– Taking Pop Idol across the pond to become American Idol

– Building the show – from naming it and finding the hosts to forming the judging panel

– Season 1 auditions – dealing with rejected singers and trying to find good ones

– Justin Guarini reminisces about his audition

– Paula Abdul’s struggles with Simon Cowell, producers, and the boys’ club atmosphere

– Behind-the-scenes pranks
