How To Improve In 5 Minutes: Remember these REGION LIST…

I want to give heads up to an article we did in the past, which is worth being mentioned once again: Region List Shortcuts in Pro Tools.
But this time including a tutorial video!
If you are working a lot with the Region List, and I guess many of you do so, these will definitely fasten your workflow. Here’s the latest benztown tutorial!

  • ⌘ + ⇧ + K
    Export the selected regions
as single audio files. This is pretty useful, when you’re cutting voice or other samples in just one track. So you can export all the files without bouncing them in real-time
  • ⌘ + ⇧ + F
Use this shortcut the open a search window for your region list. When you’re working on a massive project and you’re just looking for a special file, this is how to do it the fast way. If you’re working with short cuts for categories this is the best way to just display all FX, all Drum Loops, all Musicbeds, etc
  • ⌘ + ⇧ + D
    Clear your search
and your list looks normal again.
  • ⌘ + ⇧ + U
This shortcut selects unused regions in your list, so you can easily delete audio files from your session without affecting the audio you used in your project. (see 5.)
  • ⌘ + ⇧ + B
    Clear all selected files
from your region list. If you want to you can even delete them. This one works great in combination with the ‘select unused regions’ shortcut
  • ⌥-click (and hold)
Use this shortcut to audition the selected audio file. This is pretty useful when you want to listen through your FX or Loops without dragging them all into your tracks.
  • ⌃ + Drag
This will snap the file you’re dragging into your edit window to your cursor. It will fit by itself.
  • ⌃ + alt + Drag
Snap file to beginning of marked region and copy
