Fiver Friday #539 – Prophet-5, Sunken Gardens, CHR Imaging +More!

team image

Sorry guys, I was traveling over the weekend. Portugal treated me well. Cascais is beautiful. It’s the last Friday of June. Here’s what’s been living in my head this week.

1. Plugin

GForce just did something nobody has pulled off before. They partnered with Sequential to release the first official software version of the Prophet-5. The real one. The 1978 synthesizer that shaped more hit records than any other synth in history. It doesn’t just sound close — it sounds like a Prophet. Deep character, slightly unstable in all the right ways. And they added modern controls that make it genuinely useful for production today. Intro price is $84 through the end of July.

2. Inspiration

Rick Rubin said this and I keep coming back to it:

“There’s a tremendous power in using the least amount of information to get a point across.”

If that’s not the job description for radio imaging, I don’t know what is.

3. Music

Tyler, The Creator — “St. Chroma (feat. Daniel Caesar)” from Chromakopia. The opening is cinematic in a way most producers won’t even think about it. Turn it up.

4. Web/Social/Whatever

It has been a while.  Architecture quiets my running mind. This is an exceptional piece of work.

5. Imaging

The June CHR composite just dropped on SoundCloud. If you work in CHR and haven’t listened to this month’s update yet, here’s your reminder. BTW this is from yours truly.
