Fiver Friday 552: Wu Tang, Halloween Voices, and More!

October is here and Halloween is around the corner… Here is another one!

1. Plugin

Sync Audio just released MegaMorph and it has a Pro Tools AudioSuite version, which makes me happy. It puts a multi segment envelope on top of any plugin or instrument you load into it, so you can animate almost any parameter over time. Think filters, reverbs, pitch, whatever you host. MegaMorph Warp does varispeed, pitch and time shaping with envelopes. I’m already thinking about risers, sweeps and transitions for imaging, built from stuff you own. $79. If you grab it by October 7 it can ride along in the $99 Sync Audio bundle at no extra cost.

2. Inspiration

Seth Godin posted a short one on Wednesday called “Media and Messages.” His point: rock and roll came from the transistor radio. A new medium shows up and the messages change with it. Every radio person should read that sentence twice. Radio shaped the music, and now the media is shifting again, so the messages will shift too. Make the new stuff, don’t wait.

3. Music

Corey Kent, “Don’t Stop Now.”

4. Web/Social/Whatever

Netflix drops “The Disciple” on October 16. It tells the story of the Wu Tang Clan album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,” the one copy that sold for $2 million in 2015. One album, one copy, locked in a vault. If you love old school hip hop and the business of making records, put it on the calendar.

5. Imaging

Our Halloween voices went up on benz branding on Monday. Jack o Lantern, Werewolf, Vampire, Ghost, Witch, Ghoul and more. Creepy, fun and ready for your station.

Have a great weekend! – Andy
