DAVID CASSIDY TRIBUTE
David Cassidy, actor, singer, and former teen idol has died at age 67.
Born into a family of actors in West Orange, New Jersey, he made his Broadway debut at 18. While the show closed quickly, it led to the screen test that moved him to Los Angeles. Within a year, he was cast as Keith Partridge in the musical sitcom The Partridge Family.
The show turned him into a worldwide phenomenon, selling millions of tickets and albums, and causing mass hysteria comparable to Beatlemania at it’s peak.
But the TV – based success left him frustrated and unable to break out of his teen idol image. When the show ended, he continued to record, but left the road to pursue acting and musical theater.
While the decades since had peaks and valleys in both his career and personal life, he remained active, racking up successes from Broadway to Las Vegas to Hollywood.
Earlier in 2017, he revealed he’d been struggling with dementia for years. Nine months later, he’d lose the battle.
