Last week I asked my friend David Konsky  to send some new stuff, as I wanted to share the magic he is doing for 2DayFM in Sydney and for the Konsky Files on Benz CHR with you. And again, you hear, why he is THE BEST out there. Mate, respect and love and thanks for sharing.

1. Karmin “Hello” Jingle. The band was in town and I quickly presented a change of lyric to Hello tailored to the station and city. Integrated into original – it gives a great point of difference

2. Million Dollar Campaign. Our next million dollar promotion on 2Dayfm. 2 Promos attached one with and without a tailored jingle. The non-jingle was for the teaser. The jingle has Zedd’s “Spectrum” as an underlay and I had our session singer re-do some parts to Phil Collin’s “In The Air”.

3. A 30 second image spot utilizing vocal parts to almost make s story/sentence.

4. Katy Integrated intro for ATH. It’s quite simple – where possible look for a part of the song you can utilize to integrate with your branding. In this for instance I’ve got a lyric “we call it” then tagged 2dayfm. There’s a bit of pitch harmony on her ID too. If you know the key of the song, look at layering VO and pitching within the key. Screen print attached and also a mixout so you can hear the pitching. You can utilize several plugins within pro tools such as pitch shift, waves tune, ultra pitch shift.

How to create harmonies with Pitch Shift Plugins:

Once you have determined the key of your files, creating harmonies is not very hard. Most pitch shift plugins are able to pitch exact semitones and even cents. By pitching to the right key and layering the original file with the pitched ones, you can create harmonies. There are even plugins like Serato’s Pitch N Time give you the ability to enter your basic key and then pitching it to the key you enter.

Depending on the plugin you are using there are several techniques. Some plugins like Waves’ UltraPitch can play up to six voices with one plugin. Others play less or only one voice, so you have to duplicate the original track, add pitch on it and then layer them.

If you’re struggling with latency issues caused by your pitch shift plugin, either record the file and place it right in timing or add the pitch via Audiosuite.
