FIVER FRIDAY #555: SPLITZ, BOB LAWRENCE & LUPIN

Lupin is back on Netflix today and my weekend watchlist just got longer.

1. Plugin

Rast Sound just released Splitz, and it does one smart thing. It splits your signal four ways: mid and side, frequency bands, loud and soft, or transient and sustain. Then each part gets its own effects chain. Reverb on the tails only. Saturation on the quiet parts. Delay on the sides. For VO and imaging that is a fast way to add size without turning the voice to mush. It runs as AAX in Pro Tools, plus AU and VST3. Intro price is €59 until November 15, then €99.

2. Inspiration

Radio Ink ran a column this week from Bob Lawrence, 50 years in radio, called “What Makes a Great Storyteller.” His point for on air people: you are not a DJ, you are a storyteller. And the story starts with you. Show some vulnerability and people care. That goes for salespeople too. Love Bob!

3. Music

Anderson .Paak and Cordae dropped “Heavy Is the Crown” today.
