Fiver Friday #48: Stuttgart Special Edition
This week we’ve got another Stuttgart Special Edition for you! Here we go!
1. Plugin
This Plugin is a cool tool to create customized drums pretty fast. Perfect if you need Sub Down Hits for Imaging. I really like the look of this plugin. Fits perfectly to Serum or Studio One 3. Seems as many manufacturers are up for this design right now. Note, that there are some nice artist packs for Kick 2 available.
Pro Tools Filtergate
Filtergate ships with Pro Tools and is perfect to pimp downlifters for example. With this plugin, you can create powerful modulations of you material: Simply drop it on a track and automate the bypass, or use it as an Audio Suite effect. I like to use it on Pop or Urban stuff. Try this!
2. Inspiration
Tommy Emmanuel is the perfect example of a one man show. Following the slogan “Sometimes less is more”, this guy lives this idea. It’s amazing how he plays rhythm and melody at once.

I’m a big fan of SoundWorks Collection. Their videos and interviews are amazing, not only for filmmakers. Our man Jeff Schmidt gave a great interview to them talking about his work, sound effects and radio. A great interview, you must not miss!

Lapalux is a master when it comes to remixing. His style is so unique, he just drops it.

You all know about the Loudness War which takes place in nearly every production nowadays. You think you are loud? Well, there is stuff which is louder:

Check the chart in this article. Just imagine how loud this sound actually was, when it appeared 100miles away with 172dbspl(!!). Just as a sidenote: the pain threshold of a human ear is around 120dbspl.

5. Imaging
It’s time again for the easy, but save your a** Pro Tools Tip!
A ridiculously simple, but effective tip is to save your plugin favorites in the drop down menu of Pro Tools.
By default, the drop down menu looks like this:
But what if you want to access your favorite plugins immediately? Open the drop down menu and navigate to your favorite plugin(s) and cmd-klick on the name.
Now this plugin appears right at the top of the menu.
You can even do this with Audio Suite Plugins.
Another way to display your plugins, is sorting by manufacturer’s name. Navigate to preferences and look for the plug-in sort order. You can choose “type” or “manufacturer” or both. These options also work well in combination with the Window Configuration tool. Check step by step guide right here!
