From LA to Thailand and back home or The Crazy…

It’s just a few weeks back, but already feels like it’s been ages. I had such a great time with Brad and Sidey and their performances at Iron Imager were just stunning!
Brad is back home now – back to reality after partying in LA, winning Iron imager and of course an awesome trip to South East Asia with his mates.

First off, how was the trip to Thailand?

Stunning. Anyone that hasn’t been, go! So many cool & beautiful things to see & do… plus the beer is cheap.

How did you like LA?

L.A. was awesome. I had the best week. Hiked Runyon Canyon, saw an NBA & baseball game, made so many new friends, drank too much fireball & ate enough burgers to sink a ship.
Not to the mention WWRS… I met so many of my idols in those couple of days, had some really great conversations with some of the world’s best, it was really inspiring.

Oh, & I’m pretty sure Sidey adopted me…

The Iron Imager contest – how did you like it and what was challenging about it?

It was intense, but so much fun. It’s just one big blur if I’m being honest. The pressure was immense, especially in the first 10 minutes when you’re trying to figure out what to do.
Working off a laptop was interesting, using a familiar keyboard & mouse definitely helped.

The most challenging part was definitely working against the clock. It’s hard to relax, & you start making decisions you normally wouldn’t. It all worked out in the end. All in all, a great experience!

Brad’s II Winning Session

What was your feeling right after the contest? Did you think you would win?

Relieved. It had been such a big build up, I was just happy that I actually finished a promo. Win or lose, I would have had the same smile on my dial at the end of the day.
Not in a million years did I think I would win though, Sidey’s piece was killer!

What was the biggest take away from that whole experience?

For me, it’s to just back yourself, go with your gut & have a crack.
I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to experience the Iron Imager competition.

I’ll definitely be a little more relaxed next year now that I know what to expect.

Any new tricks or new plugIns since you are back?

I’m only just discovering the power of Speakerphone.

Last week I made a little series of sketches with the anchor of our breakfast show. The idea was to create the image of him & a guest driving around in a car. Speakerphone really came in handy:

Other than that, here’s some recent audio:

When does the preparation for next year start?

It’s already begun…
Ha! Nah.
Iron Imager is a tough one to prepare for, there’s not a whole lot you can do until you’re sitting in front of your laptop on the day.

Can you defend the belt?

Who knows! I’ll give it a crack. I’m really looking forward to next year.
I’m encouraging everyone I know to have a go…perhaps another Aussie showdown!? You ripper.
